The gorgeous day started with a spectacular view of Florence from the Piazza Michelangelo.
Is there a place more charming than Tuscany? Rolling countryside, dotted with vineyards and wineries, and cypress trees and olive trees, and lovely yellow stucco homes with red tile roofs, all more charming than I could have imagined. I think charming will be my word of the day!
The first charming village we visited was Siena, and toured their incredible Duomo. While looking on the outside a similar style to the Florence Duomo, inside the Siena Duomo is much more elaborate.
We wandered through the village to the Piazza del Campo, where a horse race is run during the summer. It reminded us that we are missing the Kentucky Derby this year, but, of course, we're in Italy instead!!
Through more beautiful and charming Tuscan countryside, we arrived at Poggio Amorelli, a small family-run winery, where we had lunch and wine tasting.
Instead of napping, from the winery we went to the charming village of San Gimignano. And charming is truly the perfect word to describe this village.
One last stop at a winery for more wine tasting, and an incredible view of San Gimignano, on the hill.
So charming, I hope we will return!
