The Main Event - September 8, 2026

It's finally here, we are at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, and it is beautiful!

Our tickets to the day session of the quarterfinals in Arthur Ashe Stadium allowed us to go all around the center, even in to the Louis Armstrong Stadium. But because it is the quarterfinals, in the second week of the tournament, there wasn't much going on in the other courts.

So we were in our seats in plenty of time to see the players for the first match, Aryna Sabalenka and Linda Noskova, warm up. It was a entertaining match, Sabalenka won 7-6, 3-6,7-6.

The signature drink of the US Open is the Honey Deuce. It is pretty, and tasty!

The second match was two Americans, Frances Tiafoe and Alex Michelson. We saw the first two sets, won by Michelson 7-5, 6-3, and left so we could get back into the city to meet Tim and Alanna for dinner. It must have been an exciting match, Tiafoe came back to win.

Catching up with the Cronins at Avra, a Greek restaurant on 60th and Madison, was a perfect end to our time in NYC. We even had a surprise visitor at the restaurant - Courteney stopped by to say hello, and we were thrilled to see her.

We are flying home in the morning, and while it has been an exciting few days in the city, we are ready.
